Challenge

With 2030 fast approaching as the target year for Europe’s sustainability goals, circularity is set to play a pivotal role in achieving them. Just following the sustainability regulations for product and material handling alone is not enough. The systems that ensure that the loop can actually be closed require a broader, systemic perspective.

Duni, with its strong legacy in premium disposable convenience products, will need to find the right balance between keeping products disposable, and developing new solutions that deal with materials and waste in alternative ways.

Solution

Over a period of six months, various potential future scenarios for circularity have been co-created and tested across the entire organization to support the company's sustainability ambitions. Internal and external capabilities have been identified to secure a resilient future. This includes suggesting a framework for measurement tools to track circular activities and initiatives, along with defining strategies for implementing circular design principles.

The project has opened up for a user-centric, insight-driven circular innovation approach that facilitates the continuous exploration of circular opportunities and the development of both short-term and long-term actionable plans.
